National Strategy on Microelectronics Research

This National Strategy on Microelectronics Research presents goals, key needs, and actions required over the next five years to realize these opportunities. This strategy provides the framework for federal departments and agencies, academia, industry, nonprofits, and international allies and partners to address key needs and build out the microelectronics research and development infrastructure to support the future advances that will shape the semiconductor field.

NIOSH: Occupational Exposure to Carbon Nanotubes and Nanofibers

Publication date
Thu, 04/25/2013 - 00:00

The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (Public Law 91-596) was passed to assure safe and healthful working conditions for every working person and to preserve our human resources. This Act charges the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) with recommending occupational safety and health standards and describing exposures that are safe for various periods of employment, including (but not limited to) the exposures at which no worker will suffer diminished health, functional capacity, or life expectancy because of his or her work experience.

Communicating Risk in the 21st Century: The Case of Nanotechnology

Publication date
Thu, 02/18/2010 - 00:00

An independent analysis commissioned by the NNCO. This white paper details the risk communication literature, its strategies, and the research evidence for what happends in a risk analysis when data is unavailable due to randomness or incompleteness. It exames these issues in the context of nanotechnology, as a case study of an emerging technology area that presents risk communications challenges.
