NNI Strategic Documents

The NSET Subcommittee succeeded the Interagency Working Group on Nanoscience, Engineering, and Technology (IWGN) as the primary interagency coordination mechanism on nanotechnology. The NNI Implementation Plan looks at ways nanotechnology thrives from modern advances in chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, medical, and materials research and how it would contribute to cross-disciplinary training of the 21st century science and technology workforce. Reflects the FY 2001 budget for relevant programs which then was being increased to $495 million.

The Strategic Plan represents the culmination of a series of activities designed to elicit community input from academia, industry and government, aimed at identifying cross-cutting themes and priority research opportunities for the NNI over 5-10 years. Includes a description of the NNI investment strategy and the major categories of investment, or program component areas. 

The Strategic Plan includes a description of the NNI investment strategy and the program component areas called for by the 21 Century Nanotechnology Research and Development Act of 2003.  Updates and replaces the NNI Strategic Plan of December 2004.
