Product Manager Soldier Protective Equipment (PdM-SPE) is responsible for continuously improving the ability to capture, analyze, and monitor soldier performance and operating environment data in support of the Integrated Soldier Sensor System (ISSS), a data gathering tool that allows leaders to collect, store, analyze, and act with informed decisions that support readiness training in CONUS and mission planning while deployed. Past approaches lacked a purposely-designed, underlying systems architecture that relied upon a process of disparate and contracted support that is expensive and unsustainable. Additionally, as the military moves towards a more networked soldier, future capabilities must offer energy efficient, integrated solutions that increase capabilities but do not significantly increase the need for additional power and energy sources. The energy requirements are critical for all solutions as it will affect power management and generation, power consumption efficiency, and affect resupply requirements.
