Scholarships & Grants

NIH Institutional Research Training Grants—Provides awards to eligible institutions to develop or enhance research training opportunities for individuals, selected by the institution, who are training for careers in specified areas of biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research.


Fellowships

Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program—Established in 2000 to fund basic research in areas of interest to the Intelligence Community. Today, the program annually funds first- and second-year postdoctoral fellows researching topics as varied as molecular biology and robotics.

Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards for Individual Predoctoral MD/PhD Fellows— Provides National Research Service Awards (NRSAs) to individuals for research training in specified areas of biomedical and behavioral research.

Ruth L. Kirschstein Predoctoral Fellowships— Provides Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards (Kirschstein-NRSA) to individuals for doctoral-level training.

Ruth L. Kirschstein Predoctoral Fellowships for Minority Students - Provides minority students up to five years of support for research training leading to the Ph.D. or equivalent research degree; the combined M.D./Ph.D. degree; or other combined professional degree and research doctoral degree in the biomedical, behavioral sciences, or health services research.

NINDS Medical Student Scholars Program — Awards individual fellowships to eligible individuals to provide research training opportunities for medical students who are preparing for careers in basic or clinical neurological sciences research.


Postdoctoral Positions

NIH/NIST Joint Postdoctoral Program - Research opportunities emphasize interdisciplinary research at the interface of the biological and physical sciences including, but not limited to, structural and computational biology, medical and bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics, tissue engineering, single molecule detection, nanotechnology, and imaging techniques.

Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards (NRSA) for Individual Postdoctoral Fellows - Provides research training opportunities for medical students who are preparing for careers in basic or clinical neurological sciences research.

NIH Pathway to Independence (PI) - Provides 1-2 years of mentored support for highly promising, postdoctoral research scientists, followed by up to 3 years of independent support contingent on securing an independent research position.
